Radio Work

Kiss 100
Kiss 100 is a radio station that broadcasts to London and specialises in Hip Hop, R&B and Urban music. It also broadcasts on digital radio in other parts of the UK. Kiss FM began in October 1985 as a pirate radio station, which broadcasts across South London and afterwards across the whole city on 94FM. It attracted a huge following before finally getting a legitimate license in 1990. It was first set up by Gordan McNamee who owned Kiss. In 1986 Gordon McNamee sold shares to 10 DJ’s. The DJ’s and other helpers took the station forward through a combination of serious determination and clever marketing and in 1988 the Department of Trade and Industry advertised the first new radio licence in London.
